So we left our homes before 6:00 am and finally checked into
our hotel (gorgeous) at 7:00 pm. Long
day. Crazy coincidence – for the first
leg of our trip we were on the same flight as another Lane Tech colleague on
the way to her honeymoon – congrats Megan!
Short layover in Panama City where they sold empanadas in the airport –
awesome. Another 2½ hour flight and we
landed in Guayaquil. When we hit the
tarmac the entire plane erupted in applause.
Katie and I were so confused – not sure if that’s a little tradition
here or if safe landings are that rare. Don’t
really want to know the answer to that.
Hotel has a great driver waiting for us.
Impressions on our short drive – crazy driving, crazy cars, huge cemetery
all above ground, some sketchy neighborhoods, lots of pick up trucks with kids
and dogs riding in the back like I loved to do as a kid. No Cubs game on TV in our room though L We settled for a badly
dubbed-American dance movie.
